Celebration of Learning

Apr 29, 2013 12:00 AM

Clarkston Elementary invited Mad Science of Detroit to be part of the school’s Celebration of Learning Day.  We had a terrific time at the school.

The event was held on Thursday, April 25, 2013. The day started with a school assembly featuring a Mad Science stage show.

Combustible KC presented “Up, Up and Away” a show that explores air and air pressure. A vortex generator, a hot air balloon, a hovercraft and other items are used to help children understand the power of air.
For the rest of the morning, eight Mad Scientists showed groups of students some very cool science at Fun Stations.
The kids used a chemical reaction to make “Slime”, they witnessed the power of static electricity, learned how ultraviolet light can make some things change color and made their own Pet Tornado to take home.
After lunch Thermo Thad presented “Spin, Pop, Boom” for another assembly. Thermo showed students how to defy gravity and make wonderful sounds with fire. He also demonstrated some exciting chemistry as he made a foaming hand and some steaming chemical reactions.

Thanks to Clarkston Elementary, the Mad Scientists had a fun time and we know the students had a lot of fun, too.
